MUSIC SUPERVISOR MEMBERSHIPS

Welcome music supervisors! Which of the following best describes your situation?:

I work as a Music Supervisor* at a corporation whose primary purpose is Music Supervision - Freelance Member.

I'm employed full-time as Music Supervisor* at a corporation whose primary purpose is NOT Music Supervision (ie: Film/Television Studios and Networks, Production Companies, Video Game Publishers, Trailer Houses, and Advertising Agencies) - Corporate Member.

I am retired from the role of Music Supervisor* - Legacy Member.

Membership Guidelines:

  • The Guild of Music Supervisors reserves the right to deny applications or revoke membership status at any time.

  • Official Guild communication channels shall not be abused. There will not be any inappropriate commercial solicitation through Guild communication channels.

  • No Guild material that has been distributed to members as confidential may be posted publicly, released or otherwise disseminated.

Freelance Member

FREELANCE MEMBER

Freelance Membership is available to individuals who fulfill the requirements below:

  • Independent Music Supervisors.

  • Those working in the role of a Music Supervisor, as defined here, at a corporation whose primary purpose is Music Supervision, or putting music in media.

  • Those working in a role that is NOT Music Supervision at a corporation whose primary purpose is NOT Music Supervision, but who are obtaining Music Supervision work and/or credits outside of their corporate job (i.e. their corporate role is not the source of their Music Supervision work).

 

Freelance Member Benefits:

  • Invitations to all GMS social events in Los Angeles (we average 6-10 per year and growing).

  • Invitation to GMS social events in local chapters (NYC, Canada, UK and expanding).

  • Voting rights for the annual GMS Awards, celebrating excellence in the craft of Music Supervision across all fields.

  • Voting rights for GMS Board of Directors elections.

  • Invitations to educational events and a special Member rate for our annual ‘State of Music in Media’ Conference in September.

  • Subscription to our GMS Monthly Newsletter.

  • Invitation to attend and participate in GMS Town Hall events to help guide and define the direction of our Guild and the Music Supervision community as a whole.

  • Speaking opportunities at conferences and festivals worldwide (please note: engagement criteria varies event to event).

  • Invitation to participate on GMS Committees and have a rewarding experience helping our Guild and profession evolve.

DUES: $150 per year

Corporate Member

CORPORATE MEMBER

Corporate Membership is available to individuals employed full-time in the role of a Music Supervisor at a corporation whose primary purpose is NOT Music Supervision (e.g. Film Studios, Television Studios and Networks, Production Companies, Video Game Publishers, Trailer Houses, and Advertising Agencies).

 

Corporate Membership Benefits:

  • Option to purchase up to a pair (2) of tickets to the annual GMS Awards Show event at a discounted rate.

  • Invitations to all GMS social events (we average 6 to 10 per year and plan to ramp up the networking opportunities with other Guilds and organizations in all media fields).

  • Voting rights for the annual GMS Awards celebrating excellence in the craft of Music Supervision across all fields.

  • Voting rights for GMS Board of Directors elections.

  • Invitation to attend and participate in GMS Town Hall events to help guide and define the direction of our Guild and the Music Supervision community as a whole.

  • Invitations to educational events and a special member rate for our annual ‘State of Music in Media’ Conference.

LEGACY MEMBER

Legacy Membership is awarded to those who have had extensive careers and spent many years fulfilling the role of a Music Supervisoras defined here, in either a Freelance or Corporate capacity (or both). It is specifically designed for those who have now retired, are semi-retired, or are no longer Music Supervising but are still active in the industry and do not meet the credit requirements over the past four (4) years - but who have had an indelible impact on the craft. 

 

If you would like to be considered for Legacy Membership, please review the requirements below and contact the Membership Committee (membership@guildofmusicsupervisors.com). Approval will be at the discretion of the Membership Committee and GMS Board of Directors.

 

Upon approval, newly appointed Legacy Members will be honored at the annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards Ceremony.

 

Legacy Membership Benefits:
